Former IGP Wickramaratne's death probe handed over to Western Province South Crimes Division
Sri Lanka, July 17 -- The investigation into the death of former Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickramaratne was handed over to the Western Province South Crimes Division, the Police stated.
He was found dead with gunshot injuries at his residence on Parakrama Mawatha, Talahena, Malabe, this morning, and the police media spokesperson stated that the death is suspected to be a suicide.
The 63-year-old former Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickramaratne, a father of two, was at home with his family members when the shooting occurred.
Information revealed that he shot himself using a pistol belonging to one of his security officers.
Police suspect that he committed suicide due to a personal reason.
