Sri Lanka, Oct. 12 -- A former member of the Colombo Municipal Council, Mahinda Kahandagama, who was arrested while in possession of narcotics, was ordered remanded until the 26th by the Gangodawila Magistrate's Court today (12).

A second suspect, arrested along with him, was fined 15,000 rupees by the court.

The court was told that the Central Crime Investigation Bureau had arrested the two suspects on the night of the 5th while they were in possession of the drug "ice."

The Bureau informed the court that they were taken into custody with 30 grams and 128 milligrams of ice in their possession.

The Bureau had sought the court's permission to obtain a five-day detention order, on the grounds that further investigation into the suspects...
