Sri Lanka, Aug. 23 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Tanuja Lakmali Jayatunga has issued a summons ordering former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran to appear before the court on September 26.

The order was issued today (22) after the Magistrate considered a complaint filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

Mahendran is accused of causing a loss of over Rs. 10 billion to the government by allegedly issuing Central Bank treasury bonds to a company owned by his son-in-law, Arjun Aloysius.
