Sri Lanka, Sept. 21 -- Police say five people, including an 11-day-old infant and a school student, have died in five separate traffic incidents that occurred across the island yesterday, September 20.

In the Weerawila area, an 11-day-old infant died at the Tissamaharama Hospital after a lorry struck a three-wheeler carrying her family.

The parents and another child were also injured in the collision.

A 16-year-old school student died when two motorbikes collided at the Nainadeniya junction in Weliveriya.

Other fatalities were also reported yesterday.

In Puttalam, a motorbike rider was killed when he was struck by a lorry, while in Puthukuduirippu, a young man died when his motorbike collided with another.
