Sri Lanka, Feb. 8 -- The continuous satyagraha launched by beach seine fishermen in front of the Presidential Secretariat entered its fourth consecutive day today (08).

The protest, which began on the 5th, is a direct response to the government's decision to ban the use of mechanical equipment in the beach seine fishing industry.

In a significant escalation, the protesting fishermen announced today that they will completely withdraw from all fishing activities across the entire island starting tomorrow.

This move threatens to disrupt local fish supplies as the deadlock between the industry and the government continues.
