Sri Lanka, Sept. 18 -- A major fire in Dambulla was averted by the quick actions of the Dambulla Municipal Council's Fire Unit.
The fire started earlier today (18) in a municipal council shop at the Dambulla Sunday Fair.
A municipal council worker who was reporting for duty at the time fortunately spotted the fire.
He immediately alerted the fire unit, which arrived promptly and prevented the fire from spreading further.
The fire broke out in a room where the municipal council was storing a large stock of polythene.
While the fire was extinguished, all the polythene and other materials stored in the shop were destroyed.
