Sri Lanka, April 30 -- An assistant director of the External Resources Department of the General Treasury, suspended in connection with a $2.5 million financial fraud, took his own life.

The police stated that the deceased official was a 50-year-old resident of the Pahala Weerambuwa area in Kuliyapitiya.
