Sri Lanka, Sept. 28 -- A woman has died following a fatal road collison near Rathgama Junction on the Galle-Colombo main road.

Police said the incident occurred when a bus travelling from Galle towards Hikkaduwa struck the pedestrian as she was walking by the roadside.

The victim was taken to Galle Hospital with serious injuries but was later pronounced dead. She has been identified as a resident of Boossa.

The driver of the bus has been taken into custody by Rathgama police.
