FAO and China launch project to boost sustainable aquaculture
Sri Lanka, July 16 -- A 2 million US dollar project commenced through a partnership between the Food and Agriculture Organization and the Chinese government to bolster sustainable aquaculture in Sri Lanka and Tanzania.
The three-year initiative, set to roll out in 2027, focuses on enhancing aquatic animal health by deploying digital aquaculture management, early warning systems, biosecurity protocols, and knowledge-sharing networks.
The project operates under the framework of the FAO-China South-South Cooperation Programme, running in tandem with fisheries and research institutions across Sri Lanka.
