Sri Lanka, Aug. 2 -- A group who introduced themselves as police officers had entered a house at Ritigala, Nawa Janapadaya, terrorised its occupants, and fled after robbing two gold chains and a mobile phone, police say. Villagers subsequently gathered, caught one of the suspects, and handed him over to Weliipenna Police.

Police say the incident took place around 8.30 p.m. on July 31.

Weliipenna Police stated that investigations into the incident were launched based on a complaint made by the owner of the house in question, a resident of Ritigala, Nawa Janapadaya.
