Sri Lanka, Oct. 2 -- All drivers and passengers travelling on Sri Lanka's expressways to wear seatbelts, according to a gazette notification issued by the government.

The rule, which took effect on September 1, applies to both front and rear seat passengers in all vehicles using the highways.

For vehicles not currently equipped with seatbelts, a three-month grace period has been granted to install them, officials added.
