Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon has been brought before the Fort Magistrate's Court by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The CID arrested him yesterday at his home in Hokandara in connection with the alleged attack on protesters on May 9, 2022.

Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura had yesterday rejected an anticipatory bail application filed by Deshabandu Tennakoon, requesting not to be arrested in connection with the incident.

In rejecting the bail application, the Magistrate stated that while a court could consider an anticipatory bail request from a person who respects the law, it could not do so for a suspect like Deshabandu Tennakoon, who had been evading court proceedin...
