Sri Lanka, Aug. 8 -- A 36-year-old estate worker has died from a wasp attack at the Olton Tea Estate in the Norwood Police Division.

The victim, identified as Siva Kanagaratnam, a resident of the Olton Estate, passed away this afternoon (8).

According to a correspondent, the attack occurred when Kanagaratnam went to repair a broken drinking water pipe in the tea estate.

A wasp hive in a nearby tree was disturbed, causing the wasps to attack him.

He was admitted to the Dickoya Base Hospital with serious injuries but had already died by the time he was admitted.

His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
