Sri Lanka, Oct. 26 -- The Nawalapitiya Railway Control Room reports that the Ella Odyssey tourist train (No. 1041), which was travelling from Colombo Fort to Badulla, derailed near the Watagoda railway station this afternoon (26).
A spokesperson for the Railway Department stated that the Ella Odyssey train, which commenced its journey from Colombo Fort at 6:30 AM, consists of two dual-engine sets.
The rear engine and one carriage of the train were affected by the derailment.
The derailment occurred near the railway loop as the train was approaching the Watagoda station.
The Nawalapitiya Railway Control Room further mentioned that a railway disaster service team from Kandy is expected to arrive to carry out the repair work.
