Sri Lanka, April 26 -- A 78-year-old individual passed away after sustaining severe injuries in a road incident at the Hansamuna Junction area on the Wariyapola-Kurunegala main road. Police Headquarters stated that the victim, a resident of the Mahakeliya area, died while receiving treatment at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.

The incident occurred yesterday (25) when a motorcycle traveling toward Kurunegala struck a pedestrian crossing the road. Following the event, the motorcyclist was taken into custody. Wariyapola Police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
