Believers celebrate the Easter festival to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after sacrificing his life on the cross to save mankind from sin. Easter Sunday also concludes the 40-day period during which devotees engaged in various religious rituals while reflecting on the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

The Bible records that after being crucified and put to death on Mount Calvary in Jerusalem, Israel, he rose again on a day like today and appeared to his followers.
