Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- A revision of domestic fuel prices is likely at the end of September following increases in global crude oil prices and ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

Energy Minister Anura Karunathilaka indicated the potential price change when answering questions from journalists regarding fuel shortages currently affecting several distribution companies.

Local fuel continues to sell at relatively low prices despite rising international rates, prompting several private distribution companies to inform the government of mounting operational difficulties. Discussions are planned with company representatives to determine an appropriate solution.
