Sri Lanka, July 19 -- A doctor attached to the Gampola Teaching Hospital has assaulted a cancer patient who underwent surgery, and the assaulted woman was admitted to the Kurunduwatta Hospital, Kurunduwatta Police stated.

The assaulted woman suffers from high blood pressure as well as diabetes, according to police information.

The doctor's wife, mother-in-law, and daughter are clearly seen to be involved in this assault incident in video footage, police noted.

The woman who got attacked operated a milk bar in the Kurunduwatta town.

The suspect doctor served as the acting medical officer-in-charge of the Kurunduwatta Hospital for a period.
