Discussions underway to import global dengue vaccine
Sri Lanka, July 7 -- Discussions are currently underway to bring a vaccine used worldwide to treat dengue patients to the country. Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa stated this.
Meanwhile, dengue control programmes operate islandwide today as well to control the spread of dengue.
The Government Medical Officers' Association stated that the expected objectives through the dengue control programmes could not be achieved.
According to the data of the National Dengue Control Unit, the number of dengue patients reported so far this year stands at 61,060, and the number of deaths appears as 39.
