Sri Lanka, Aug. 26 -- A group of eight suspects, including the wife of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Udith Liyanage, have been further remanded until September 1 in connection with a treasure hunting incident in the Shravasthipura area of Anuradhapura.
The suspects were produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate today.In a related development, DIG Liyanage, who is in charge of the Colombo District, was also arrested and remanded until September 1st.
He is accused of pressuring the Anuradhapura police via telephone to release his wife after her arrest.
