Sri Lanka, Feb. 27 -- The arrest of Major General Tuan Suresh Sallay is a "political operation" launched to fulfill the interests of the Tamil diaspora while undermining national security and the stability of the state, National Freedom Front Leader and former Minister Wimal Weerawansa stated today (27).

Speaking at a press conference titled "What did Sallay do?" held at the party headquarters in Battaramulla, the former Minister condemned the targeting of an officer who performed a unique service for the country.

He noted that during the war, Sallay provided the essential intelligence required to successfully strike targets such as LTTE leader Thamilselvan.
