Sri Lanka, June 18 -- Deputy Finance Minister Anil Jayantha Fernando has said that Sri Lanka's upcoming fuel shipments will consist of fuel purchased at higher prices, before recent global price changes were taken into account.

He noted that fuel bought at lower prices will only arrive later.

The Deputy Minister made these remarks during a media briefing held yesterday (17).

He further stated that it would take some time for the lower-priced fuel to reach the country, and expressed hope that fuel prices would eventually come down.

Accordingly, he added that any decision on maintaining current prices or reducing them would be considered in the future, once market conditions stabilise.
