Dengue reaches hyper-epidemic status in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka, June 16 -- Dengue has now escalated to a hyper-epidemic status.
Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Professor Chandana Abeyrathne made this statement.
Furthermore, the number of dengue high-risk zones escalated from 74 to 84.
Dengue spreads rapidly in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kandy, Matale, Batticaloa and Badulla districts.
The Health Ministry identified these areas.
School children show a higher tendency to fall victim to the dengue virus.
Health Deputy Minister Doctor Hansaka Wijemuni stated this.
