Sri Lanka, Aug. 2 -- The total number of dengue patients reported in the country so far this year has crossed 86,000, the National Dengue Control Unit stated.

Accordingly, 29,980 patients were reported in July, making it the month with the highest number of dengue cases recorded so far this year.

Within the past 24 hours 646 dengue patients were reported.

The National Dengue Control Unit stated that the highest number of these patients has been reported from the Gampaha District.

The number of dengue deaths reported so far this year stands at 62.
