Sri Lanka, Aug. 4 -- A special programme was initiated to accelerate tourist arrivals by developing tourist attractions in the Northern Province.

Accordingly, Delft Island, with its Dutch-era monuments and free-roaming horses, will be developed as a sustainable tourism destination.

Tourism Deputy Minister Professor Ruwan Ranasinghe joined a special observation tour and a high-level government officials' meeting centered in the Jaffna District regarding this.

Plans were made to carry forward these development activities through funds allocated from the upcoming budget and the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
