Sri Lanka, Aug. 5 -- Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal (Retired) Sampath Thuyakontha stated that there are currently no threats to national security.
Speaking to the media, the Defence Secretary explained that underworld crime is not a direct national security issue but is handled by the Ministry of Public Security. He affirmed that the military provides the necessary support to the police and public security within legal limits.
"There is no problem with national security," he said. "The underworld is not directly related to national security. That is controlled by the Ministry of Public Security. We provide the support required by national security, public security, and the police within legal frameworks."
