Sri Lanka, Oct. 26 -- The Gampaha High Court's trial-at-bar decided to deliver the verdict on the case involving the murder of Polonnaruwa District Member of Parliament Amarakeerthi Athukorala and his security officer, who were killed in Nittambuwa during the 'Aragalaya' protests, on January 14 next year.
Accordingly, the verdict is expected to be announced for the 41 accused linked to the incident.
The Attorney General had filed the case before the Gampaha High Court against the defendants under 14 indictments, including the murder of Polonnaruwa District MP Amarakeerthi Athukorala and his security officer, Police Sergeant Ahangama Witaranalage Jayantha Gunawardana, in the Nittambuwa town on May 9, 2022.
