Sri Lanka, Feb. 25 -- The Colombo High Court today ordered the acquittal of Daisy Forest, grandmother of Yoshitha Rajapaksa and mother-in-law of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, in a case filed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara submitted a special psychiatric report to the court, which was requested through the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer. This report assessed whether the defendant possessed the mental fitness to stand trial.

Doctors recommended in the report that the defendant does not maintain a suitable mental condition to face a trial. After considering these findings, the judge ordered her acquittal from the indictments filed against her.
