Sri Lanka, Oct. 28 -- Homagama Magistrate Rajinda Jayasuriya has ordered the Colombo South Crime Division to expedite investigations into the death of a young man who was in police custody at Homagama, arrest the suspects and produce them before the court.

The order was issued when the court took up a case filed through a motion by several civil society organisations, together with the victim's family members, seeking an order for the arrest of the suspects involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, the Colombo South Crime Division has also been granted permission to take the necessary steps to question suspects in prison, if required, in connection with the ongoing investigations.
