Sri Lanka, Sept. 18 -- The Kaduwela Magistrate's Court has ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to obtain a statement from Member of Parliament Rohitha Abeygunawardena.

The court has instructed the CID to report its findings within two weeks.

The order relates to an allegation of financial fraud that reportedly took place during Abeygunawardena's tenure as a minister.

The investigation concerns alleged financial irregularities in the removal of rocks during the construction of the Hambantota Port.
