Sri Lanka, Oct. 14 -- Fort Magistrate Pasan Amaraseena today (14) ordered the Illegal Assets Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to arrest former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and produce him before court over the alleged misuse of funds belonging to the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.

The Magistrate also ordered the issuance of an arrest warrant in both English and Sinhala to facilitate the process of obtaining a Red Notice through Interpol.

The orders followed submissions made by the CID regarding the case.

The CID's Illegal Assets Investigation Unit had reported the case to court over an alleged loss to the government involving Rs. 7.8 million allocated to the Tourism Promotion Burea...
