Sri Lanka, Nov. 2 -- Former police constable Susantha Hettiarachchi of the Sooriyakanda police was released by the Embilipitiya Magistrate's Court today (02) in connection with a case concerning a cannabis plantation raid on land reportedly belonging to a relative of Ratnapura District National People's Power Parliamentarian Shantha Pathma Kumara.

The court issued the order to discharge the suspect under Section 123 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, based on a complaint submitted by the Embilipitiya Division Special Crime Investigation Unit.

This decision came as the court had ordered charges to be filed regarding the incident today (02).
