Sri Lanka, May 16 -- Five people sustained minor injuries following a train derailment between Kelaniya and Wanawasala, according to the Railway General Manager.

However, the Police Media Spokesperson's Office stated earlier today that 10 people with minor injuries were admitted to the hospital.

The incident occurred early this morning when train No. 507, operating from Polgahawela to Kalutara South, derailed between Kelaniya and Wanawasala railway stations.

One carriage of the derailed train overturned onto the track, disrupting train services on the main line.

Passengers were inside the overturned carriage at the time of the accident.

However, railway authorities said that train operations on the other line continued as usual.
