Sri Lanka, Sept. 30 -- The Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority has made issuing tickets compulsory for passenger transport buses operating within the province starting tomorrow (1).
The Authority has decided to impose a fine not only on bus conductors who fail to issue a ticket but also on passengers who fail to obtain one.
This decision addresses widespread passenger inconvenience caused by non-issuance of tickets, often resulting in commuters being overcharged.
In anticipation of the new regulation, ticketing was observed in some areas starting from today.
Also starting tomorrow, the registration of all three-wheelers engaged in passenger transport within the Western Province will become mandatory.
