Sri Lanka, Oct. 1 -- The competitive examination to absorb Development Officers (DOs) working in schools into the Teachers' Service has been temporarily postponed, according to a notification released by the Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Nalaka Kaluwewa.

The examination was originally scheduled to be held on March 25, 2023, for graduates in government service, including DOs in schools, to be integrated into the teaching profession.

While several related cases heard in the Supreme Court have now been concluded, the Secretary stated that a case concerning the examination in the Court of Appeal is yet to be finalised.
