Sri Lanka, Sept. 26 -- A private company in the Kahaduwatte area of Galle has been fined Rs.500,000 by the Galle Magistrate's Court for selling imported Samba rice above the government-mandated control price.
The owner of the company pleaded guilty to the charge.
According to the Consumer Affairs Authority, the company was selling a kilogram of imported Samba rice for Rs. 273, while the control price for the product is Rs. 230.
