SriLanka, April 6 -- A Community Corrections Officer attached to the Valaichchenai Magistrate's Court is to remain in remand custody until April 21.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Thasanga S. Bodaragama issued this order today (6) following the officer's arrest for allegedly soliciting and accepting a Rs. 10,000 bribe.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) produced the suspect in court after apprehending him during a sting operation.

Investigators stated that the officer demanded the money from a suspect currently out on bail for a drug possession case in exchange for processing the necessary documentation.
