Sri Lanka, Aug. 27 -- A Colombo Magistrate today ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to initiate an investigation against individuals who have made statements deemed insulting to the judiciary. The Magistrate directed the CID to pursue legal action under the law for contempt of court.

The court also instructed the CID to immediately investigate any person who recorded videos inside the court premises without official permission. Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris informed the court that the CID had already been instructed to examine public remarks made by a specific YouTuber connected to a case in question.
