Sri Lanka, Aug. 20 -- Anuradhapura Magistrate Nalaka Sanjeeva Jayasuriya has ordered the Anuradhapura Police Headquarters to immediately hand over the investigations into the alleged treasure-hunting case involving the wife of a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and several other suspects to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The Magistrate issued the order when the case related to the treasure-hunting incident was called before the court via a motion.
The CID informed the court through their motion that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya has instructed a Deputy Inspector General of the CID to take over the investigation.
