Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- A formal complaint has been filed with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody, accusing him of corruption and misuse of public funds.

The complaint was submitted by Sanka Chandima Abeywardena, chairman of the Sri Lanka Haritha Sangvidhanaya (Green Organisation).

Abeywardena alleges that Jayakody was involved in a corrupt tender process during his tenure at the state-run Fertiliser Corporation, which he says caused financial losses to the government.

The complaint also points to other decisions taken by the minister in his cabinet role that allegedly led to further losses.
