Sri Lanka, Aug. 8 -- Immigration and Emigration Department officials today (8), deported a Chinese national who had arrived at Katunayake Airport on AirAsia flight AK-045.

The individual, who reportedly worked for a cyber fraud company in the Philippines, was travelling on a tourist visa but was unable to provide specific information about his visit.

The deportation was carried out due to these inconsistencies.

This incident follows a recent trend of increased scrutiny on foreign nationals entering the country, with over a hundred Chinese nationals having been deported from Sri Lanka for their alleged involvement in online fraud and cybercrime activities in recent months.
