Sri Lanka, Aug. 4 -- A request seeking an order to compel Sri Lanka cricketer Chamika Karunaratne to provide a blood sample for a DNA test in a paternity case was rejected by the Colombo District Court.

Airline pilot Rasika Sewwandi filed the lawsuit, claiming that her child was fathered by Chamika Karunaratne and seeking a declaration to that effect.

Delivering its order, the court held that sufficient grounds were not presented to justify granting the request for a DNA test and dismissed the application.

However, the court ordered that the main case be called again on October 9 for further proceedings.
