Sri Lanka, Sept. 16 -- CEB trade unions have started a work-to-rule campaign against the restructuring of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB). As a result, services such as power outage updates and bill payments will only be handled during regular working hours.
In addition to the work-to-rule protest, the unions have decided to launch a sick-leave campaign tomorrow and the day after, according to Kosala Abeysinghe, president of the Ceylon Electricity Board Technical Officers' Association.
However, Minister of Energy Kumara Jayakodi stated that the new restructuring process will not harm job security and that those who disagree with it are free to resign voluntarily.
