Sri Lanka, Oct. 19 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has announced that it has recovered over Rs. 27.8 million in fines from traders who sold bottled drinking water at excessive prices, following legal action taken over a six-month period.
These raids were conducted between April 1 and September 30, with a total of 306 court cases reported during that time.
The majority of the raids were conducted in the Colombo District, where 55 cases were reported.
Significant numbers of raids were also reported from districts including Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya.
The Authority further stated that these operations will continue without interruption.
