Sri Lanka, Sept. 11 -- Two officials from C-Consortium, the local agent for the fire-damaged vessel MV X-Press Pearl, have been released on bail.

They were arrested on suspicion of deleting emails and data from the ship's systems after the fire.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Oshada Migara Mahaarachchi ordered the release of the company's IT division Director Prasanna Jayawardena and Assistant Director Roshan Senewiratne on two personal bonds of Rs. 2.5 million each.

The Magistrate also imposed a travel ban on both individuals.
