BIA handles 4.75 million passengers in six months
Sri Lanka, July 16 -- Nearly 4.75 million passenger movements took place at Bandaranaike International Airport during the first six months of 2026, highlighting steady expansion in the aviation and tourism sectors of Sri Lanka.
Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited reported these statistics, detailing 4,748,481 total passenger movements alongside 30,659 aircraft movements and 424,856 transit passengers from January to June.
The transit hub welcomed 1.14 million tourist arrivals over this six-month window, reflecting a minor 1.8% drop from the previous year.
