Sri Lanka, Sept. 12 -- Sri Lanka Customs has successfully stopped an attempt to smuggle six exotic snakes at Bandaranaike International Airport (B.I.A). A Sri Lankan woman, in her early 40s, was apprehended after arriving from Bangkok with the reptiles hidden in her checked-in luggage.
The individual arrived on an IndiGo Airlines flight via Chennai.
The seized animals include a Speckled Kingsnake, a Yellow Anaconda, three Honduran Milk Snakes, and a Ball Python.
All of these species are listed under Appendix II of CITES, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, which regulates international trade to prevent them from becoming endangered.
