Sri Lanka, Feb. 14 -- Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) President Rajiv Amarasuriya states that while the public elects a government with the expectation of safety, there is currently a lack of security even for people to walk on the streets.

He made these remarks during a press conference held this morning (14) regarding the shooting of a lawyer and his lawyer wife in a supermarket parking lot near the Akuregoda Army Headquarters in Battaramulla.

The BASL President emphasises that criminals must be arrested and the law must be strictly enforced to send a clear message to both local society and the international community.
