Sri Lanka, Oct. 21 -- Baddegama has recorded the highest level of rainfall over the past twelve hours, ending at six o'clock this morning (21).

According to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), the region in the south-west of the country saw a staggering 167 millimetres of rain.

The DMC confirmed that intense downpours have been widespread, affecting several districts.

Other areas experiencing significant rain include Walallawita, which registered 132 millimetres, Wathurawila with 126.40 millimetres, and Elpitiya, which saw 108 millimetres.

Several other locations reported substantial, though less extreme, totals.

Between 50 and 100 millimetres of rain was recorded in Rambukkana, Dehiovita, Welipitiya, Eheliyagoda, Kiriella, Haldumu...
