Authorities vow action over child abuse linked to exam results
Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has appealed to parents and the public to avoid inflicting physical punishment or psychological distress on children over their performance in the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination.
Authorities also called upon media organizations and social media users to refrain from publishing examination outcomes in ways that might embarrass, upset, or discomfort minors.
The ministry cautioned that such actions amount to punishable offenses under child protection laws, adding that maximum legal measures will be enforced against violators.
